Decline in India cotton yarn and fabric exports

Exports of India's cotton yarn and fabric declined by more than 45 per cent in March to $237 million over the same month last year due to the global slump in demand, according to the commerce ministry. The country's overseas shipments of cotton yarn and fabric in March 2008 was $435 million. During the fiscal 2008-09, cotton yarn and fabric exports slipped by 11.8 per cent to $4.10 billion from $4.65 billion in the previous financial year.
